We've been meeting for a couple of months on Friday evenings. We began with an every-other-week schedule; however our group wanted more frequent gatherings. So we increased our meetings to three times a month. That lasted only one month because our group's hunger is still growing for deep teaching of the Word, great fellowship with each other, and mutual ministry...and more and more are desiring to attend. So....We are moving our Bible study to Sunday mornings!
While our fellowship is eager to officially launch as a church, we are not quite ready for that stage yet...but the Spirit clearly was moving in the hearts of His people to move forward. The need to take another step towards that goal was clear and undeniable.
We want to respond to what the Spirit is doing in our fellowship, and so after much prayer together we have decided to move our Bible study from Friday nights to Sunday mornings at 11 AM, starting October 5. This allows more people to attend who are unable to come on Fridays as well as offering a Sunday morning experience for those who are desiring that.
We want to be clear...we are not yet ready to launch a Sunday morning church service. There are many moving parts to get to the launch point, and we are proceeding as the Lord guides. This is one more step on that path. We will continue to have Bible study, with a teaching by Pastor Tom followed by a (usually lively, dynamic and fun!) time of discussion and fellowship. We are able to be more interactive, more personal and more directly minister to each other which helps build the bonds of fellowship as we all press forward towards the goal of launching our church.
Last week we wrapped up our Bible study series, "Blessed Assurance: The Promises of God" and on Sunday Oct 5, we will begin a new study, verse by verse through the Book of James. It will be in-depth, in-context, and in-line with what God is doing in and through us.
This is a unique experience that generally happens during one stage in the church planting process. If you or someone you know is curious about what a Bible study with interactive discussion time is like, please prayerfully consider visiting us starting on October 5.
